Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course Agenda
- Before Giving Care: recognizing a medical emergency and knowing when to call 911.
- Assessment: Assessing a conscious person for injuries and gathering important medical information from a victim.
- Choking: Using back blows and abdominal thrusts (also known as the Heimlich Maneuver) if someone is choking. Unconscious choking is also covered.
- Sudden Illness: Recognizing and responding to heart attack, shock, anaphylaxis (allergic reaction) asthma, using an EpiPen, fainting, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and stroke.
- Injuries: Burns, muscle, bone and joint injuries; bleeding, using a tourniquet, head, neck and spinal injuries. Concussion assessment and treatment.
- Environmental Emergencies: bites and stings, heat and cold-related emergencies, poisoning, tick removal.
- CPR: We use Prestan CPR feedback manikins. Lights indicate if a student is pushing deep enough and pushing at the correct pace to deliver quality CPR.
- AED: Automated External Defibrillators (AED) deliver a shock to help the heart to beat normally again and are for the public to use. Our AED trainers are just like real AEDs — the AED talks you through attaching pads to your CPR manikin, analyzing the heart rhythm, and delivering a simulated shock.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

As an independent businesswoman, it was refreshing to work with someone who believes as I do:that punctuality, professionalism, kindness, and good customer relations are worthy goals to achieve.
Sornam Sahadevan
I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
